Tips For Selecting Bridesmaid Dresses

As a Bridal Stylist, One of the biggest questions my brides ask is "Where do I begin when selecting bridesmaid dresses?". If you follow these simple steps that I am about to give you, it will make the process as painless and easy as possible and to ensure everyone is happy.

1. Choose your wedding color palette.

Whether it's soft pinks and romantic blushes or big and bold patterns and colors, your bridesmaids will play a big role in helping to bring your wedding vision to fruition. Your bridesmaids can wear a monochromatic color or you can have your girls in complimenting colors in your palette.

2. Decide if you want your girls in the same dress or complimenting styles.

Until recently, bridesmaids were never really given a choice as to what dress they had to wear regardless of personality or body shape. More and more Brides today are allowing their girls to choose a dress that is better suited for the individual so they can feel good in what they are wearing.

     * If you allow your girls to wear different styles, please be aware of the fabric type. I totally recommend sticking with one or two fabrics of the same kind. Most people don't realize that color in different fabrics will not always look the same when photographed. As an example, the color Cranberry in a matte chiffon will look different than a cranberry in a silk fabric. This may or may not bother you. It's a personal preference, one which you should decide upon.

3. Find a website or store that carries the colors and styles you want

Have your girls purchase their dresses from that particular place. Forest Green can be different when purchased from different companies and for a more uniformed look its best to stick with one place. If you are purchasing your bridesmaids dresses from Purely Vixen, Please drop us an email and we will happily send you a special discount code for your girls!

4. Decide on the style.

If you have more than 3 girls in your bridal party, and are o.k. with having them in different styles, I suggest you pick out a few styles that you like and send them to your girls to choose from. This way makes it easier on your girls instead of giving them free range where they can not make a decision. This will also help them to purchase quicker leaving less stress on you.

5. Have your bridesmaids purchase their dresses 6 months prior to the wedding date.

This time frame allows for any mishaps that may arise and also leaves enough time for alterations that might need to be made.

Following these simple steps will most definitely make less stress on you as a bride. It also gives your girls a more clear understanding of what you want for your big day.

Good Luck!
